Barguss Construction is a renowned firm of building contractors which specialises in the restoration, extension, conversion and maintenance of historic town and country properties.
Our client base is predominantly in Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, where we understand the local vernacular and take pleasure in using the centuries-old techniques and traditional materials which are sympathetic to this area.
What We Can Do
As a medium-sized firm, we are able to undertake a variety of works, from routine maintenance and repairs through to substantial, multi-million pound contracts. We have successfully undertaken projects of over £3m in value and have the capacity to exceed this. Yet each job, no matter how small, is always personally supervised by a company director. We believe that this approach, together with the family-run nature of our business, leads to a high standard of project management, excellent quality and cost control and a genial relationship with our clients.
Our History
The company was founded by Alan Barguss who, after attending St Paul’s School and University College London, came to the Cotswolds to take a summer job working with old buildings. He fell in love with the area and stayed, almost immediately going into partnership with an existing building contractor. In 2001, Alan left this partnership to set up Barguss Construction. Alan now has over 40 years’ experience in this industry and is delighted to have been joined in the business by his two sons, Anthony and Simon, who are now both directors.
